Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Dharmalogist when you use this site or subscribe to Gate 3.
Last updated 23 September 2026
1. Who we are
Dharmalogist (dharmalogist.com) is run by Lashlan Hemachandra, an individual based in Malaysia. In these terms, “we” and “us” mean Dharmalogist, and “you” means anyone using the site. By using the site or subscribing, you agree to these terms.
2. What Dharmalogist offers
Gates 1 and 2, the history of Buddhism and the stories and lessons, are free to read. Gate 3 is a paid subscription to two AI guides, the Mentor and the Companion, which draw on Buddhist teaching to help you reflect on what you are going through.
3. What Gate 3 is not
- The Mentor and the Companion are AI, not people. Their replies are generated automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation.
- They are not therapists, counsellors, doctors, lawyers or financial advisers, and they are not a crisis service. Nothing they say is professional advice.
- They are not a religious authority. Buddhist traditions differ, and a teacher in your own tradition may see things differently.
- If you are in danger or thinking of harming yourself, please contact a person now: local emergency services, or a free helpline listed at findahelpline.com.
You remain responsible for your own decisions.
4. Who may subscribe
You must be at least 18 years old to subscribe to or use Gate 3.
5. Your subscription and payment
- Gate 3 costs US$9 per month, charged in advance at the start of each monthly period.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us. Your bank may add its own currency-conversion charges.
- Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- If we ever change the price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then.
- If a payment fails, Stripe will retry it for a while. If it still cannot be collected, your access to Gate 3 ends.
6. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time with “Manage or cancel your subscription” in Gate 3, or by emailing us. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will not be charged again. Our Cancellations and Refunds page explains when we give refunds.
7. Fair use
Gate 3 is for your own personal use. Please do not:
- share your access with others, or resell it;
- try to get around the door, overload the service, or use automated tools to send messages;
- use it to create content that is unlawful, abusive or harmful to others.
Every message costs us money to answer, so to keep the price fair for everyone, a subscription includes up to 300 messages each calendar month. The count starts again on the first day of each month (UTC), and the chat tells you when you are close to the limit. Unused messages do not carry over. If we change the limit, we will tell subscribers in advance. We may suspend access that breaks these terms.
8. Your conversations
We do not save your conversations. They exist only in your browser until you close or refresh the page. To write each reply, your messages are sent to our AI providers, as explained in our Privacy Policy. Please do not share other people's private details, or anything you would not want processed that way.
9. Content on the site
The articles and design of Dharmalogist belong to us. Images of museum objects and photographs are used under the licences credited with each image. You may share links and short quotations with credit, but please do not copy large parts of the site.
10. Availability and changes
We work to keep the site running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or end any part of it. If we end Gate 3, we will stop billing and refund any unused part of your current month.
11. Liability
To the extent the law allows, the site is provided as it is, and we are not liable for decisions you make based on what you read or what the AI guides say. Our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Malaysian consumer law, including the Consumer Protection Act 1999.
12. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change significantly affects subscribers, we will tell you by email before it applies.
